Ignorance is Bliss

Today, like every day, was another example of how God's blessings are new every day and how His plan is always so much better than anything I could have come up with.  I have been on the run since 8:30 this morning, but I got to spend all afternoon with some of the girls from InterVarsity, and I am so excited to see what will happen this semester.

First, we toured a couple of prospective houses for next year.  We loved one option, but its location and price (depending on how many people we squeeze into it) aren't really what I was looking for.  Then, we had our first official Women's Group meeting, where we discussed the kind of relationships we'd like to build with each other this semester and what kinds of things we'll need to do to make that happen.  We'd like our Women's Group to be an opportunity for us to have meaningful discussions about things that we may not bring up around the guys, as well as a chance to simply hang out together and get to know one another on a personal level.  I'm getting to know some of the harder-to-get-to-know girls better, and it is a wonderful feeling!  Finally, we grabbed dinner and met to pray about housing for next year.  We've met several times just to pray for wisdom about where to live, and the guys keep coming to pray with us even though the prayers aren't really for them anymore.  It's so wonderful to have guy friends who are always there for us.  In the end, those of us on North Campus decided that it really would be wise to continue to live on North, so we'll probably have an apartment of 4-5 rather than a huge house.

I had my first job interview EVER today!!  I think it went well, but I still don't know what my chances of getting it are because I have no idea who the other two candidates are.  I trekked all the way to the Intramural building on South Campus and met with the Senior Assistant Director for Programming, the Assistant Director for Intramurals, another woman whom I don't know but is in charge of the Challenge Program, and the Marketing Manager for Recreational Sports Programs (my prospective title!).  If you're wondering what the Challenge Program is, it's an opportunity for groups of adults of all ages, often business corporations, to come participate in physical activities that promote group problem solving and interdependence, ideally improving their synergy in the workplace.  I thought that was cool.  Anyway, we made introductions, I gave each of them a copy of my resume, business card, and portfolio in .pdf format, and I showed them my portfolio.  They actually wanted to see everything, not just my graphic design material, so I gave them a taste of works in every medium.  I really like the people who would be in charge of me, and the girl who currently has the position was very laid back, so I wasn't too intimidated.  They asked me many questions, but I didn't particularly have trouble answering any of them.  I should hear back from them by next week.

So, I still don't know where I'll be in September, and I don't know how I'm going to make it through the next week.  But I love what I do, and more importantly, I love the One for whom I do it all.

Go Blue!!
