For those who don't know, the Eastman Conservatory wind ensemble is the premier college wind ensemble in the country. The concert was pretty incredible, including a world premier of a piece called RIFFS! featuring their percussion professor on drum set. I recognized one of the bassoonists (I would), Kara LaMoure, who grew up in Plano and studied with my private teacher.
When we were at Borders today, I happened to spot a Mad Men calendar. I certainly don't have time to watch T.V., but Dr. Lyman is obsessed with that show (he frequently refers to the vintage furniture, strikingly similar to his own "mid-century modern"), so I texted Christian (from the studio), who agreed to give it to him as a joint gift. I had it gift-wrapped in the store by donating $1 to a children's hospital, but the girl did a less-than-stellar job, so I made a note of who wrapped it under Christian's and my names.
Enjoy the pictures.

Angelo's!
Mmmmmmm ...
I had to decorate it somehow, because you could read "Mad Men" through the paper.
Amanda!
This was part of an art project that I got back today. I'm offering it to Dr. Lyman.
Yum to the pancakes and french toast!! If Dr. Lyman doesn't snatch it right up I'd like it! Maybe you could wrap presents for others next year to bring in a little income! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, you do Christmas break right! See you soon!
ReplyDeleteJust reading about the food made me starving, the pictures of it put it over the top! And watching Mamma Mia, shopping, and the concert, you had one full but absolutely amazing day! Hehe, I loved the decorations and little note which you wrote on the calendar. 1 Day! <3
